“Hawaii Five-0″ is getting a primetime makeover and ET has a sneak peek at what the ’60s fan favorite looks like in the 21st century!
“Moonlight” star Alex O’Loughlin is the new Steve McGarrett, originally played by Jack Lord, and Scott Caan is detective Danny “Danno” Williams.
“This is kind of an aggressive contemporary continuation of what we knew to be the old show,” Alex tells ET. “It has the great stuff that the old show had. It has the crimes, the characters and the drive of the show. We have more comedy than the old show. It is a little faster than it was. We have done everything we can to retain the integrity of the old show.”
The integrity of the old show isn’t the only thing that has been maintained. The new series still utilizes the memorable theme song with an update — and McGarrett will still famously say, “Book ‘em, Danno.”
But the show will incorporate some changes.
“I used to be a guy. My character used to be a guy,” Grace Park, who plays Kono, tells ET.
And “Lost” fans can celebrate. Daniel Dae Kim is back from the dead and still filming in Hawaii.
“I imagined it,” Daniel says when asked if he thought he would shoot another series in Hawaii. “Did I think it was going to happen? That was another story. I am just glad to be back with another quality show.”
“Hawaii Five-O” moves into the Monday night at 10 p.m. timeslot on CBS that has previously been home to “CSI: Miami.” “CSI: Miami”‘s new day and time will be Sundays at 10 p.m. [SOURCE]
