5. Alex O’Loughlin in Moonlight – Although the this one-season series may not have always been that enjoyable to watch, Alex’s gentlemanly, lovelorn vampire P.I., Mick St. John, was always easy on the eyes. [source]

TOP 10 PRIME TIME TV HUNKS OF ALL TIME!
The number 1 PRIME TIME TV HUNK OF ALL TIME is…ALEX O’LOUGHLIN!! For those of you who may not know O’Loughlin (and that number is growing less daily thanks to the upcoming Hawaii Five-0) , O’Loughlin had already been known in his native Australia before he first hit American audiences on FX’s crime drama The Shield and then as the lead in the vampire drama Moonlight, which was cancelled after one season. O’Loughlin then took the lead in last fall’s CBS medical drama Three Rivers but, again, that show didn’t catch on overall with audiences and was cancelled. Alex kept busy co-starring with Jennifer Lopez in this spring’s feature film The Back-Up Plan which showed his talent for comedy and made use of his physical assets (wouldn’t you?). However, Hawaii Five-0 finds O’Loughlin playing the iconic role of Steve McGarrett (originally played by Jack Lord) and given a plum time slot (Mondays at 10, which had served super hit CSI: Miami very well) the show has everything going for it, including great co-stars in Scott Caan, Daniel Dae Kim (someone else who almost made this list!) and BSG’s Grace Park. Time will tell how big of a hit the new show is but my prediction is that Alex O’Loughlin will be an American household name in no time…his fans (who voted daily in droves) have known all this for a loooooooong time. Congrats, Alex! [SOURCE]

Alex mentioned in David Blue interview.
Remember Logan, the adorkable computer nerd/vampire from Moonlight? He was recently interviewed by iF Magazine and mentioned Alex/Three Rivers.

iF: Do you have fans from MOONLIGHT, where you played Logan, the techie vampire?
BLUE: Oh, yeah. Absolutely. And even better, I have good fans from MOONLIGHT, who are saying that they’re going to watch this show. [Erstwhile MOONLIGHT lead] Alex O’Loughlin is a friend of mine, and any time I can read a script, I’m like, “We’ve got to find a role for Alex on this show.” I know he’s busy with his new show, THREE RIVERS, but [MOONLIGHT was] great. If [MOONLIGHT executive producer] Joel Silver and the rest of them get together and decide to do a movie, would I love to be Logan again? Abso-freaking-lutely.
iF: Did they let you keep the vamp teeth?
BLUE: No, I never had to vamp out. In the original series finale, which was the season finale, I believe it was written that Logan vamps out and jumps and does some vampire-type stuff, and all the producers sat around and went, “Nah, he’s too lazy.” So I just run. That’s why I wanted to do that role, was to have the fangs. It never happened. I would love to revisit that so I can do that. And the contacts are really cool, too. I’d like to do that.

Speaking of Moonlight, you may have noticed I recently added some more images to the gallery.

Alex and Gabriel Macht Interview
![]()
Gabriel Macht (“The Spirit”) and Alex O’Loughlin (TVs “Moonlight”) join Kate Beckinsale in the new thriller “Whiteout”. Moviehole caught up with them both recently.
Can you describe your characters? Who is Robert and who is Russell?
ALEX O’LOUGHLIN Russell is an Australian pilot who’s based in the same base we meet all the characters, where they all live. He does fly-outs. He moves gears, scientific equipment, people, food and supplies. They have a string of pilots working down there. They sort of run their own schedule. As long as they get the work done, it doesn’t really matter. He’s an Aussie lad, he’s a bit of a womanizer, he’s got all these sort of fronts, that’s his way of portraying himself that is, that keeps everyone at arm’s length, because essentially he has, like all the characters in the show, another agenda. He has an MO. In this very close-knit community, he does his best to keep everybody as far away from his business as he can.
The action takes place in Antarctica and obviously you couldn’t shoot there, but you did shoot in a very cold place, what was that experience like?
AO We shot in northern Manitoba on the frozen lakes, which is about three hours north of Winnipeg. And it was cold. It was minus forty, minus fifty. We spent the first couple of weeks there, and then we went to Montréal and we spent a few months in the sound stages and did all the internal stuff we needed to do. The great thing about doing all the exteriors where we did them in the conditions that we did them in, is that, essentially, that’s very close to the conditions where this film is situated and where these people live and have to survive. And it changes how you feel. Your blood pressure drops, you get dizzy, euphoric, and the simplest tasks become difficult. You can’t see the horizon for the edge of the ice, and so you can get disorientated very quickly. So it was very helpful as an actor.
I hear Kate Beckinsale has a great sense of humor. What was it like working with her?
AO Yeah. The lead actor of a film sets the tone for the film and sets the tone for everybody, and she set a great tone.

Kate Beckinsale was also interviewed by Moviehole. Here’s what she had to say about her male co-stars:
“Gabriel, Alex and Columbus were, and I were just this extremely tight group on the set because it was quite difficult. It was quite grueling, and we did get beaten up every day. And you really want to feel that you’ve got people around you who you can have a good laugh with and have your back. And I just got so lucky. I got the best boys ever. And we’ve really stayed… I mean, Columbus and I’ve been on a holiday with our families together and had Christmas together and… So they’re really, they’re very strong relationships, and they’re all really silly and funny.”
